Trust No One
but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts. - 1 Thessalonians 2:4
How does the saying go? "Trust takes years to build, seconds to break, and forever to repair." It's a weird thing, trust. No matter how much we want to say that we are a trusting people, we are really pretty guarded when it comes to real life.
Think about the people that know you. Like really know you. Does it take more than one hand to count them? My guess is no. It's hard to trust people into your deepest, darkest places. It's hard to trust people with the most important stuff in your life. When I think about what I treasure most, there are very few people that I really trust. Let's make this less dramatic. My hot rod. There is nobody, aside from my dad, who built the freaking thing, that I trust with it. Nobody can drive it. Nobody.
What's crazy is that God trusts us with His most prized possession, the Gospel. The Gospel is the method by which God is saving the world, and he trusts you with that message! What an honor! What a huge responsibility!
God is so counter to us. It takes us a super long time to trust people to drive a car that we like, and God is trusting people that at one point hated Him to spread his message to the end of the Earth. It's not just some material thing that He is trusting you with. He is trusting you with the message of the Good News of Jesus Christ, coming and dying for the sins of the world that whosoever believes in Him will be saved.
And guess what. You didn't earn that trust. You've broken that trust. And He still trusts you with it.
