Transformed: Vocational Health - Day 1

Commit your works to the Lord, and then your plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:3 (NLT)

There comes a point of decision where you have to stop talking and start acting. You have to begin. Once youve decided a risk is worth taking, you take off. You cant get to second base without leaving first.

Think of a trapeze artist. There is a moment of truth where she swings out to catch the bar that is swinging towards her. But in order to reach the bar, she has to let go of the one she is swinging on. If she doesnt let go, she just swings back to where she started. But if she does let go, theres a split second in time where she is hanging in mid-air, 30 feet above the ground, and holding on to absolutely nothing. Thats what faith looks like.

Commit your works to the Lord, and then your plans will succeed. First you commit your goal to God, then you will make your plans, then you take a step of faith, confident that God will give you success. How do you know when youve committed your plans or work or business to the Lord? He gets to be involved in the decisions. That means you pray about every decision. Planning without prayer is presumption. It also means that you make decisions that fit with the truth of his Word. You worship at work by obeying God. And when you find success, you give God the glory. There is no limit to what God will do in the life of a person or the business that gives him the glory.

Next Steps. Write down your answers to these questions.

168. What did you hear?
169. What do you think?
170. What will you do?
171. Now talk to God...
