It’s All About Jesus
“The Lord says to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool." The Lord sends forth from Zion your mighty scepter. Rule in the midst of your enemies! Your people will offer themselves freely on the day of your power, in holy garments; from the womb of the morning, the dew of your youth will be yours. The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind, "You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek." The Lord is at your right hand; he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath. He will execute judgment among the nations, filling them with corpses; he will shatter chiefs over the wide earth. He will drink from the brook by the way; therefore he will lift up his head.”
Psalms 110:1-7 ESV
Scholars say the verses of this psalm are the most quoted in the New Testament. Once you understand that this psalm as recorded by David, is really a prophecy or a record of a vision he received from God, a vision where the Lord describes in pretty amazing detail how life has been and always will be about God the Father, Jesus the son of God and the Holy Spirit.
As I read this psalm over and over trying to find a practical application for my life I kept landing on the beginning...“The LORD says to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool." I know this passage is really about God saying this to Jesus but I can’t help but think as I read all the verses how God is kinda saying sit, I got this. Your enemies will be dealt with... I promise!
Imagine that...God promises and He will not change His mind.
Do you believe the promises God has made you?
Do I believe that God is going to deal with my crazy neighbor who wants to make my life difficult? Or is it easier for me to not sit and trust God to take care of it, seeking retribution in my own ways. Honestly, that’s a struggle, but I have to trust God when I hear Him say “sit, I got this” Why should I believe that? Well, God promises us that if we surrender our lives to Him, He will never leave us or forsake us. He’s got my back! If we enter into a real, personal relationship with Jesus our Saviour, we are promised the Holy Spirit will be at our side helping us when we need it the most...again He's got my back! But best of all, we are promised that we will spend eternity in Heaven and those are all promises worth believing! Guaranteed.
