Breadcrumbs

You know what's cool about chapter 2? It's mystical: prophecies are being fulfilled, God is speaking to people in their dreams, and the wise men are using a star to find Jesus. Horrifying things happen surrounding Jesus' birth as well. Through it all I see the act of obedience pave the way for Jesus' story to take place.

"“Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, "Rise, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you, for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him." And he rose and took the child and his mother by night and departed to Egypt”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭2:13-14‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Who of you would really act on a dream and leave that night to go to another country? I know I would question God and ask around and maybe make a pros and cons list... Joseph was obedient and trusted God to lead his family into safety.

God calls us to act. He seeks our obedience and although it may be uncomfortable or painful even, that obedience is reward in itself and paves the way for Jesus' story to take place in our own lives.

Take some time to reflect on where God wants your obedience. I know you people. I've figured out that you're not all perfect. Just let it go. The peace and rewards in God are so much greater than the breadcrumbs we hold on to.
