The Most Interesting Kingdom

From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."
- Matthew 4:17

Jesus is the most interesting man that has ever lived. I mean no offense to the Dos Equis guy. He comes in a distant second, though. Jesus had a way of saying and doing things that blow your mind and your framework of how things work on the world. When He does that He is re-constructing your worldview.

Jesus is always intentional with how he speaks. I know for me, I spout off words sometimes and they can end up getting me in trouble...especially if I'm in an argument with a particular wonderful, beautiful, and caring woman that I live with. Not Jesus though. He didn't ever let anything slip. He never said anything that he immediately regretted. Both of those are probably things we do on the weekly.

Repent. The Kingdom is at Hand. What is he talking about? And why is that the first thing out of his mouth? It's honestly not as confusing as you think. He's literally saying to people, turn back to God, because this is an invasion.

When He came on the scene, the King of creation brought His Kingdom to bear on the Earth. He brought with him a fascinating mix of power, humility, love, grace, correctiveness, and mind warping leadership that people couldn't quite grasp. Those are all things associated with the Kingdom, and much more.

Is this still a relevant message for us today? How can you turn towards God? How does the reality of God's Kingdom working into your life look? What can you do to live that out?

Jesus is still the most interesting man in the world. This week I pray that this becomes a wonderful and wildly exciting reality in your life. Keep your eyes on the King, and ask for Him to work out Kingdom living in your life.
