Slow It Down and Get Involved

“While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And he said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." Immediately they left their nets and followed him. And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them. Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭4:18-22‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I totally agree with what Connie said Tuesday about these verses being very intriguing. Imagine if you will what it must have looked like to have your kids jump up in the boat and say "hey pops, I have decided to follow that guy over there, I think his name is Jesus and now I gotta go". Crazy huh? Fast forward to today... we don't have Jesus walking with us in human form any longer, directly asking us to come follow Him...so what do we have? Where are our personal callings coming from? Do you ever hear a still small voice encouraging you, in some way shape or form, to follow Jesus? That would be the Holy Spirit, our friend promised to us by Jesus himself.

I think one of the best ways to hear that still small voice is by being involved with your church. Not just attending on a Sunday, but actually getting involved. Jesus didn't just ask his disciples to drop what they were doing so they could just attend a meeting or two...no He asked them to drop what they were doing, come with him and get involved by being "Fishers of men".

Maybe we need to slow down a hectic life pace, setting aside the busy schedules we often get consumed by.....yes Jesus is calling us all, and I pray that each of us will hear His voice and get involved!
