With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility
“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”-Matt. 5:5
That’s for you, comic geeks. ;)
Without much inspection and depth, we commonly understand meek as the word it happens to rhyme with, weak. But the definition is quite the opposite. Meek is strength under control. To me, meek already assumes that you hold power, otherwise you have nothing to control or temper. We don’t need to force our way into control or to be the first in line. We don’t have to assert ourselves to gain anything. There is such freedom in this promise. What a way to interact with this world and within our own hearts.
Imagine what God has in store for us in heaven. We know that we will inherit the kingdom and that we will be trusted with more if we are trustworthy with what little we have now. If we are to inherit the kingdom he is wise to see that we can practice power and strength under control.
Charlie shared these verses last Sunday. They are beautiful verses to reflect upon. May it bring you peace and intimacy with God.
Exodus 14:14
14 The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
James 1:19
19 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;
Romans 8:32
32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?
