Heart Of Worship

Title: heart of worship.

Praise and Worship.

It's not a just thing we do, or a scheduled thing we do on Sundays.  It is an attitude. It is our reason for existence. Praise and Worship is our hearts, our souls, dancing and being in awe of the most high.

When I first became a Christian, the song "Heart of Worship" by Matt Redman was popular. Man, that song would bring me to tears. As a child and teenager, I had no idea what the freedom and sweetness of worship felt like until I gave my life to Jesus. I was 17.  The freedom in the simplicity of knowing what my focus ought to be just rooted my core in Christ.  It rid me of my burdens. It compelled me to lift of my hands as I sang! (Or uhh, belted hahah).

But now here I am, 17 years later. I've forgotten the essentially of just sitting, praising, and worshiping my God.

If you are in a season of your life where this is coming in easy, then I praise God that this is your reality.  However, if you're not at this place, well, I am there too. My prayer for us today is that we don't spend another day without praising and worshiping the Creator of everything.

Today's devotion is structured differently.  Look up the song above, and/or read Psalm 65 below. David is just praising, praising, praising God. It's really beautiful how he uses so many elements of life to convey God's Glory.  Pick a verse and visualize it. (For example, in verse 7, imagine God stilling a roaring sea.).

If you can't do it right now, perhaps you can take more time over the weekend.

He deserves our worship and we were made to worship him.  Let us do this today.

Much love,
Grace

Psalm 65
1 Praise is due to you, O God, in Zion,
and to you shall vows be performed.
2 O you who hear prayer,
to you shall all flesh come.
3 When iniquities prevail against me,
you atone for our transgressions.
4 Blessed is the one you choose and bring near,
to dwell in your courts!
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house,
the holiness of your temple!

5 By awesome deeds you answer us with righteousness,
O God of our salvation,
the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the farthest seas;
6 the one who by his strength established the mountains,
being girded with might;
7 who stills the roaring of the seas,
the roaring of their waves,
the tumult of the peoples,
8 so that those who dwell at the ends of the earth are in awe at your signs.
You make the going out of the morning and the evening to shout for joy.

9 You visit the earth and water it;
you greatly enrich it;
the river of God is full of water;
you provide their grain,
for so you have prepared it.
10 You water its furrows abundantly,
settling its ridges,
softening it with showers,
and blessing its growth.
11 You crown the year with your bounty;
your wagon tracks overflow with abundance.
12 The pastures of the wilderness overflow,
the hills gird themselves with joy,
13 the meadows clothe themselves with flocks,
the valleys deck themselves with grain,
they shout and sing together for joy.
