Day by Day by Day
“A worthless person, a wicked man, goes about with crooked speech, winks with his eyes, signals with his feet, points with his finger, with perverted heart devises evil, continually sowing discord; therefore calamity will come upon him suddenly; in a moment he will be broken beyond healing. There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.”
Proverbs 6:12-19 ESV
If your like me, when you come to a passage like this, it's easy to just gloss over it because it doesn't really pertain to me. Right? Who wants to consider themselves a worthless person, wicked, going about with crooked speech...and on it goes with a list of things that God hates.
It's never easy to look at our heart and realize that there are times where we find ourselves guilty of one or more of these things that God hates. They all sound so huge when you read them and just look at them at face value. But when you break them down and peel back the layers, you will start to see that they really start as smaller heart issues and the only way to successfully battle against these are by daily putting on the spiritual suit of armor that God provides.
Ephesians 6:10-20
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.”
Ephesians 6:10-20
This passage lays it all out on how we can fight against, and claim victory over the things that God hates. Are you willing to commit to suiting up for battle every morning? The enemy is real and he's just waiting for you to face him without your amor.
My prayer is that we all will suit up and claim daily victories in Gods name. "Father help us all to wake up and look to you for the daily help we need in all the areas of our lives that we are doing battle. It's only through your strength and protection that we can claim victory"
