Fear The Lord

Where do I even begin? This Pslams is just packed with so much goodness. So lets take it a few verses at a time.
Why do the nations rage and the people plot in vain? The kings of earth set themselves and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying, ‘Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cord from us. Pslams 2:1-3
Sooo…does anyone else think its interesting that David wrote about this thousands of years ago and it is still so true to this day!? How often are we as Christians attacked and ridiculed by those around us? We live daily with distractions that try to pull us apart from God and his purpose for us. But wait! The next verse is even better!
He who sits in the heavens LAUGHS; the Lord holds them in derision. Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury saying, ‘As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill’. Psalms 2:4-6
HE LAUGHS!!! God laughs at them! Why? Because he knows He has already won! He knows that he will be triumphant in the end and that his anointed people will be with him in heaven. Even though we are ridiculed and mocked by those who don’t understand we can stand firm on His holy hill knowing that we are secure in Him.
I will tell of the decree: The Lord said to me, ‘You are my Son; today I have begotten you. Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possessions. You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potters vessels’. Pslams 2:7-9
His promise is so amazing. He calls us his sons all we have to do is ask and he will give us the nations as our heritage. He has our back through the fight against the rulers of this world that will try to tear us apart from Him. But this does come with a warning;we do have to be careful and make sure we are listening and following His way.
Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with FEAR, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him. Psalms 2:10-12
Our God is a loving and merciful God but His wrath is quickly kindled. He is one to be fearedHe is one so deserving of our trembling rejoicing. Yes we are his anointed and His love for us is never ending. But as his anointed we must live a life that reflects the fear of the Lord. If we truly have a fear of the Lord then the rulers of this world will not be able to strike fear in us.We will live in the refuge of the Lords grace knowing fully who we are as His anointed people.

I would encourage you to read through this chapter in Psalms again and meditate on what it is saying. Pray for the Lord to show you what it truly means to live a life of reverent fear for Him. Surrender your Self and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you daily as you seek to live a life that is reflecting that fear.
