A Heart Condition

“The words of a man's mouth are deep waters; the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook.

A fool's lips walk into a fight, and his mouth invites a beating. A fool's mouth is his ruin, and his lips are a snare to his soul.

If one gives an answer before he hears, it is his folly and shame.

An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭18:4, 6-7, 13, 15‬ ‭ESV‬‬

There sure is a lot of passages in the Bible that pertain to what comes out of our mouth and the condition of our our hearts. As I read these passages they really started to look like they should be grouped together. The picture they paint shows just how important it is to have our heart in the right place if we're going to be effective in sharing the gospel. We need to acquire the kind of knowledge that is only available from spending time with God in the Bible. But we cant let the knowledge we gain stay inside and end up wasted. We are warned here also that there are people out there that only want to argue and that we simply need to not engage with them. We need to be like that bubbling brook, a fountain of wisdom. The imagery is great here...People love to come along side bubbling brooks and fountains. Lots of pictures are takin in those settings right? Well when you think of yourself as a bubbling brook or a fountain, you will most likely attract people... and if your willing to lovingly share the knowledge you have acquired, you could very well open there eyes to the best thing they will ever see, salvation.
